Can i please ask you a question about my belly button piercing?
Its gone quite red and pussy around the top, i've been using a salt water solution because i cant use the spray.
is it okay for me to also use betadine antiseptic?
Where did you get it done + how long have you had it, luv? Soooo many people mistake lymph (dead white blood cells, which can look kind of yellowish/dry to a yellowy crust) which is definitely not an infection, and just a part of healing.
How much salt is in your wash? 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt to one cup of boiling water is an appropriate ratio- too little or too much will just aggravate the piercing. Avoid betadine, it’s too harsh for the piercing. Navel piercings are fussy to heal + will often be cranky and red for weeks before it settles down :(
I've heard that dreadlocks can start going moldy in the core. Does that happen to everyone's at some point or is it avoidable?
Oh and a weirder question, do dreads smell funny? It seems like they might :S
Hello beautiful! ♥
It’s true! It’s known as ‘dread rot’ and is a pretty real problem- it only happens to people who don’t know how to look after their locks. Hair product + shit like wax, which is usually used on dreads instead of just being patient + waiting for dreads to lock on their own are usually the main offenders. Sometimes having SUPER thick dreads + not letting them dry properly after washing them can get them kind of funky too- the key is to just make sure you look after your babies! Devote a whole day to washing them + making sure they dry properly + keep them product free :D
My dreads don’t actually smell on their own- but they sometimes smell citrussy when I use lemon juice to palm roll them, or appley after I give them an apple cider vinegar bath. Clean dreadlocks won’t have a particularly offensive odour- however, I’ve heard mouldy dreads kind of smell like old bandaids O_O
The smell of cigarettes can cling to dreadlocks + make them smell kind of icky, so it’s best to avoid smoking if you’re keen on having nice smelling dreads, but spraying a little essential sweet orange oil diluted in salty water on your hair can make any bad smells vanish.
I hope I covered everything! Big big loves, sweetheart ^___^! ♥ ♥ ♥!
