Has anyone ever stopped you in the street to compliment (or insult, knowing the close-minded people these days) your appearance? And you people in shops treat you differently to more common looking (I guess is the right term) customers?
Yeaah, it’s kind of surreal. While I have more people stopping me to tell me that my look is ‘outta sight!’ (hahahaha), I have had people be really openly rude to me about the way I look. I find the best thing to do is push your sunglasses higher with your middle finger, so you can look down your nose at them better, and glide by like you heard nothing :3
Honestly, people in shops are WAY nicer to me the way I look now than I used to. I have been complimented by shop clerks + have had some girls demand to know my thrift goldmines. When I’ve been asked about my ears and so on, it’s because they’re genuinely curious + are nice about it. It’s pretty cool- I used to be too terrified to talk to shop assistants, it’s really helped my confidence :)
That said, most grumpy old shop ladies stalk me around their vintage shops because they see my shaved head and think I want to steal their doilies D:<
Today Tonight/7News have yet again pinned up another business owner as a monster and this time not for their usual “dodgy buildling or “money scams” but this time their target was professional body modification artist, Luna Cobra aka Howie.
Viewed on the yahoo australian and Today Tonight/7News website is this video;
In this video they demonise Cobra and paint this picture of non experience, lack of knowledge, back yard methods and no safety in general when in fact, what they are trying to state is more than wrong and heavily misinformed.
They track down one, yes only one, client of Luna Cobra’s who procedure didn’t pan out as planned, but not because Cobra is a backyard Doctor, but in actual fact, the client ended up with an infection and by the sounds of it, didn’t follow up with Doctor visits and anti-biotics.
We all already know that no matter how clean a studio is and how much care the practioner and client take in the procedure and aftercare there is always going to be a risk on infection and it’s the clients job to take first action.
Did they bother to interview anyone who has had successful procedures by Luna Cobra, no? Why? Because this segment was designed to slander him and the modified community.
You may notice that they state at the end even if it goes right, it looks a little wrong…well this is just unacceptable and sends a message out to people letting them know that it is okay about pointing out, talking down and abusing those of the modified community just because of that, being modified.
There is already enough hate towards the modified, enough people staring, talking about you to their friends while you try to eat lunch in a food court, enough parents teaching this hate to their children.
Today Tonight/7News are nothing but a bunch of media bullies!
that was such a horrible news piece, very one sided and basically was just attacking body modification in general because of biased FUCK YOU 7NEWS Ron Burgundy would never report such garbage
Mike Duffy hassled me for this article after the Sunday Mail debacle. I’m glad I told him to stick it up his ass- it was obvious they were just after another punching bag for their poorly researched smear campaigns.
Absolutely pathetic. I can’t believe they call themselves ‘News Reporters’.
hello! i read that your septum is 4mm and i'm aiming for that size, so i wondered if it's okay to stretch to that size yourself or do you have to go to a piercer?
Hullo! Yeah, I had my septum scalpelled to 4mm :) I stretched my septum to 10g prior to it being scalpelled.
Septums are a difficult thing to stretch, the tissue is tougher and more sensitive. I would recommend going to a piercer, because it’s always done quick and cleanly. I do know people who have stretched their septums on their own successfully, but they know what they’re doing, having stretched various other piercings prior to undertaking their septum :3
it IS addictive! plus youre waiting on putting glass in and GORILLA glass at that, never worn it myself but have ALWAYS wanted too! now i wanna stretch my medusa some more (its a 7mm headed for 8) but septum stretching isnt that fun at the best of time let alone when you have a cold! one day it will happen though and it will indeed be glorious! ;D
Yeah! I’ve worn glass in my conches before and it’s a really beautiful material! I love stone and glass for stretched piercings, I can’t wait for my first glass medusa piece :D
Your medusa sounds amazing! 8mm is a lovely size- I have a bit of envy for your stretcheded bits ^0^
aww face stretching hampered by illness!! boo-hiss!! hehe, i'd say it seem as it will happen soon if you were contemplating doing it while ill :) its fun you'll like it i swear ;P
It is INDEED the worst. I have had this beautiful, light and much less clunky pincher I bought from Gorilla Glass, but it’s 5mm, and my current septum jewellery is only 4mm. Boo! I can’t waiiiit to wear it!
I want to stretch my medusa again, tooooo. I love stretching, it’s addictive ^_^
Hey, I just felt like I had to say something. Now, you completely wrote off an anon that, obviously in a rude manner, criticized your corset use as unhealthy. I think your body mods are beautiful, but I have some problem with corset training on the basis of health. You have the right to do as you wish, but endangering your health crosses a certain frightening line. Be sure you're careful and make that clear, especially because you seem to have many who look up to you.
Look, I appreciate what you’re trying to say, but you’re making it sound like I just picked up a steel boned corset and was like “I think I’ll start waist training today!” which is just not how it’s done.
Waist training is not something you can just start on a whim, I have been training for years (the photo you’re referring to was taken in 2009 and around 3 years after I first started training my waist) and it’s not like I didn’t research prior to undertaking the modification, including speaking to many women who also train their waists. My goal size is not something that is going to do any damage to me, or my insides. Obviously, people who want to take it to another level will need to take heed of health concerns, but 16 - 18 inches is not unheard of or dangerous when your natural waist measurement is 23 inches.
Again, I appreciate your concern, and the many others who have sent me similar mail, but I’m not a child. I know what I’m doing.
